Giving Back in Barrie | Northshore Tree Experts
Deep roots grow a legacy - 2024
Why We Give
Long before Johnny became an arborist, the verse we cited on our wedding invitation said: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (James 1:17).
Because we believe that everything we have has been given to us by God, and because it is our desire to teach our children by our example how to be “cheerful givers”, Northshore Tree Experts will donate a percentage of our sales to charitable organizations that touch our hearts. This is not just a tree service to us – this is our legacy.
RVH Auxiliary
March 2024
RVH is our local hospital that continues to gain sentimental value for our family. It’s where Malachi was born, it’s where Tyson has had numerous appointments and fabulous specialists support him, and it’s where Maxwell spent 7 weeks in the NICU after being transferred from Mount Sinai. Currently, they are raising funds specifically for the NICU expansion. We are so very thankful for the care our son received there, but we know that this unit could benefit from some more room to maneuver in, as well as some privacy for parents during a very trying and emotional time of their lives. At the time of writing, they are currently running a 50/50 draw, so it’s an excellent time to consider supporting them in reaching their goal!
Evisage Pregnancy Services
April 2024
Envisage provides support to anyone facing unplanned pregnancy or pregnancy related difficulty. This is an invaluable resource to many women and families in our local area, and we are so happy they exist.
As many of you know, our son Tyson was adopted. With only the limited amount of information we have on his social history, it’s quite clear that his birth mother and father had every excuse in the world to make a different choice, but they didn’t. And because of that, we have our beautiful boy. There are so many reasons to be thankful that there’s a safe place like this in our community for women to receive support and understanding, and children like Tyson are the biggest reasons of all.
Hands And Feet Barrie
April 2024
Hands and Feet was supported by us because we live in the Northeast end of Barrie. We love our downtown, but we also can’t pretend like there’s not a lot of people who frequent it in need of some help. With that in mind, we chose to support Hands and Feet to help them meet the practical needs of those people.
In the last few years Hands and Feet has grown, and members of the group meet each Saturday from 4:30 pm-6:30 pm to hand out bagged lunches, clothing, shoes, drinks and the hope of Jesus Christ to those willing to hear and to be just an ear and listen to others share their lives. During the winter months they hand out gloves, hats, boots, blankets, sleeping bags, and tents to those in need living on the streets. They also drive around during the very cold nights handing out hot chocolate and coffees to those walking the streets with no home and no hope
Our Rescue (Operation Underground Railroad)
May 2024
Since 2013, OUR Rescue, formerly known as Operation Underground Railroad, has been in the fight against child sexual exploitation and human trafficking worldwide. Although this is not a local charity, unfortunately this is far from a distant problem, and it’s hard to think of a more worthy cause to support. If you haven’t seen the film Sound of Freedom yet we would highly recommend it as it shares the story of this organization’s founder, and really gives the audience an understanding of just how prevalent this evil is. If you’d like to help us stop it, please consider donating to OUR today!
Annonymous
June 2024
Sometimes in life, we come across people who just need a break, and that was the case for this month. For privacy we obviously cannot disclose more information, but we know the gift was much needed and even more appreciated.

Grace United Reformed Church & Emmanuel North Barrie
Whatever your experience with church may be (or lack thereof), it has always been a place for people to come and receive help. We believe in the church’s vital role to support the needs of it’s congregation, and as part of two churches, we believe it is our responsibility to assist them in this – in loving our brothers and sisters in Christ as if they are exactly that; brothers and sisters! “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”John 13:34-35
Christmas Cheer
August 2024
Christmas Cheer has felt like a pretty obvious choice for our family each year, especially being so close to their main location. As they continue to grow every year, they now cater to nearly 2100 families in Barrie and the surrounding area that are in need over the Christmas season. And with little kids at home, food to eat, clothes to wear, and the joy of Christ’s birth to celebrate – we can’t help but want to share with the families directly in our hometown who, without help, would have hard time finding a way to make this time of year seem special. So please consider joining us by donating today!
Give Kids the World Village
September 2024
Camp Promise operates year round through after school, Spring Break and inner city summer camps for children and youth living within Barrie, Ontario. Knowing the hours between 3:30 and 6:30 pm are the most vulnerable for children and youth, and many families are challenged to find affordable and accessible after school opportunities for their kids, Camp Promise desires to provide a safe, inclusive, financially accessible and meaningful place to come. Kids can receive homework help, make new friends, and have a ton of fun. They will enjoy music, games, sports and other great activities, while learning about God, the Bible, and what their purpose is in this big old world. They also run spring break and July summer camps, and care about the whole family and offer support as we are able to parents/grandparents and foster families in many different ways. Fun, learning, and adventure are the focus, while living out the message of hope and life found in Jesus.
Starlight Children's Foundation Canada
October 2024
Starlight is extra special to our family because not only have they given Tyson and the rest of our children many happy memories, they also had the same impact on their dad when he was a kid.
For kids who are chronically ill like Johnny, Starlight provides a break from the stress or even the pain of everyday life, and for kids like Tyson who are limited in the way they get to interact with the world around them, they provide opportunities for them to
experience things they never would have been able to otherwise.
The thought that the program directors put into each event really shows, and because we are so thankful for the way they have given to our family, we’re happy to support them as they give to other families.

You had the best pricing that I have seen, but I would likely have booked you anyways because you and your wife seem so wonderful, and the tree program is just an amazing thing to me as well.
You went away empty handed because of your honesty {payment was refused} assuring me that the trees needed no work. I appreciate your time and expertise and will not hesitate to recommend you to any one needing tree service.
We would recommend this company. They removed a huge beech tree from our property. Very competent and professional. Our yard was left in pristine condition.
Amazing work done by Northshore Tree Experts! Our tree maintenance is a huge priority at the cemetery. Northshore was able to trim, prune and remove damaged limbs and trees with ease always taking into consideration the respect of the visiting families. Thank you Northshore!
A pleasure to work with. Followed through on what they promised to do. Flexible payment options, cash, cheque or email transfer. Professional crew. We're in Cookstown and they're in our contact list.
I have known John Corner for a number of years. He has removed and trimmed a number of trees in my back yard and I have been very happy with the work he has done for me. He has a friendly but professional approach, is competitively priced, and leaves the work area clean and tidy. I am happy to recommend Johnny and know anyone using his services will be satisfied with the quality of the work that he performs.
I highly recommend Northshore Tree Experts for any tree care service you might require. Last summer I had a dangerous overhanging branch removed from over my deck. Additionally, I had some smaller trees and branches removed that were certain to have created problems in the future. The cleanup was meticulous and the friendly professional attitude was appreciated.
Enjoyed Enjoyed working with Johnny and crew, excellent job done, removal completed safely and efficiently. We definitely recommend Northshore Tree Experts!
Super efficient and friendly tree guys. No damage, and they cleaned up perfectly!
We highly recommend Northshore Tree Experts to anyone who is looking for a tree cutting/removal company. They quickly and efficiently trimmed and disposed of large over-hanging branches on several extremely tall trees around our home. We had neither the skill or the equipment to attempt the job ourselves, and now have peace of mind knowing that those branches no longer pose a danger to people or property. Thank you Johnny for a job well done!
