DEEP ROOTS GROW A LEGACY

WHY WE GIVE

Long before Johnny became an arborist, the verse we cited on our wedding invitation said: "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." (James 1:17).

Because we believe that everything we have has been given to us by God, and because it is our desire to teach our children by our example how to be "cheerful givers", Northshore Tree Experts will donate a percentage of our sales to charitable organizations that touch our hearts. This is not just a tree service to us - this is our legacy.

March 2022

Camp Promise operates year round through after school, Spring Break and inner city summer camps for children and youth living within Barrie, Ontario. Knowing the hours between 3:30 and 6:30 pm are the most vulnerable for children and youth, and many families are challenged to find affordable and accessible after school opportunities for their kids, Camp Promise desires to provide a safe, inclusive, financially accessible and meaningful place to come. Kids can receive homework help, make new friends, and have a ton of fun. They will enjoy music, games, sports and other great activities, while learning about God, the Bible, and what their purpose is in this big old world. They also run spring break and July summer camps, and care about the whole family and offer support as we are able to parents/grandparents and foster families in many different ways. Fun, learning, and adventure are the focus, while living out the message of hope and life found in Jesus.

April 2022

The Blackburn family is dear to our hearts because we got to watch our fellow church-members leave everything they had - house, business, family, and friends - and move to Peru to follow God's will for their lives. Not only is that exciting to see, but extremely encouraging, as the work they are doing is such a wonderful thing to be a part of, even if only through prayer and finances.

Scott and Tracy live in Puerto Maldonado with project Alegre Sonido de Dios, a home for children of all ages who have suffered at the hands of their abusers, and have cared for 55 children who have come from varying backgrounds including sexual abuse, violent abuse, abandonment, and orphans. Scott and Tracy provide a caring, loving home where the children can heal, so they may interact and maintain a close relationship with their new family, assuring a smooth re-integration into society.

May 2022

RVH is our local hospital that continues to gain sentimental value for our family. It's where Malachi was born, it's where Tyson has had numerous appointments and fabulous specialists support him, and it's where Maxwell spent 7 weeks in the NICU after being transferred from Mount Sinai. Currently, they are raising funds specifically for the NICU expansion. We are so very thankful for the care our son received there, but we know that this unit could benefit from some more room to maneuver in, as well as some privacy for parents during a very trying and emotional time of their lives. At the time of writing, they are currently running a 50/50 draw, so it's an excellent time to consider supporting them in reaching their goal!

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE

June 2022

While visiting a small church up north today, we prayed for a church member's two granddaughters who have ongoing heart procedures and are in and out of Sick Kids frequently. This reminded us of our time at Ronald McDonald House, and how they were there for us when one of our sons was born at just 28 weeks gestation. Words really can't convey to you how much it meant to be there.  For this reason, and for all the other families out there who have been blessed by this organization, we've chosen to support RMH Canada this month.

July 2022 - Martin's choice

Envisage provides support to anyone facing unplanned pregnancy or pregnancy related difficulty. This is an invaluable resource to many women and families in our local area, and we are so happy they exist.

As many of you know, our son Tyson was adopted. With only the limited amount of information we have on his social history, it's quite clear that his birth mother and father had every excuse in the world to make a different choice, but they didn't. And because of that, we have our beautiful boy. There are so many reasons to be thankful that there's a safe place like this in our community for women to receive support and understanding, but children like Tyson are the biggest reasons of all.

SAFE FAMILIES CANADA

September 2022

If you'd like to learn more or to help support Safe Families Canada, click the image above to visit their website.

We are so excited to be a part of Safe Families as they expand to the Barrie-Orillia area, and this month we supported them through our very-first matching fund! Safe Families provides safe homes for children to stay in while their parents get the help they need before children's aid services need to intervene. They also provide continuing support, like transportation to appointments, or babysitting during counselling sessions. Usually this role would be filled by friends, family, or neighbours, but many families today have no one to help.
As parents of an adopted child, our hearts are very soft towards these families. If someone had stepped into Tyson's birth-mom's life, or even into her mother's life, his story could be quite different. And that's why we're proud to support Safe Families as they seek to launch into our city, helping families when they need it most.
